eduKate Holland Road in 2015: Historical Tuition Archive

Archive Notice: This page preserves an eduKate tuition article published for the Holland Road area in May 2015. It is a historical record, not a current Holland Road class-location page.

What this page recorded in 2015

The original article was a location-based tuition page. It presented eduKate to families searching around Holland Road and Holland Village and listed a wide range of Primary and Secondary subjects.

The page is worth preserving because it records an earlier stage of eduKate’s development. The old service details, however, should not be read as present-day availability.

Historical programme footprint

The 2015 page listed:

  • Primary English;
  • Primary Mathematics;
  • Primary Science;
  • Creative Writing;
  • PSLE English, Mathematics and Science;
  • Secondary English;
  • Elementary Mathematics;
  • Additional Mathematics;
  • older references to GCE O-Level, IP, IB, SAP and DSA pathways.

This list is retained as historical programme evidence only. It is not a current Holland Road timetable.

Why the page is now an archive

Location pages can remain searchable long after the service configuration that created them has changed. Preserving the URL while clearly labelling its date keeps the history without creating confusion for current families.

This also reduces overlap with later Holland Village pages that focus on specific subjects such as English, Science and Creative Writing.

Historical photographs

The following photographs were part of the original 2015 page. They are preserved as images from the earlier eduKate teaching period and should not be interpreted as photographs of a current Holland Road centre.

What remains educationally useful

The original article wanted tuition to support both examination preparation and broader problem-solving ability. That intention remains useful, but a stronger modern standard asks what the teaching actually accomplishes.

  • identify the learning gap;
  • repair missing prerequisites;
  • explain the concept clearly;
  • practise with feedback;
  • check whether the student can use the skill in unfamiliar questions;
  • increase independent learning over time.

Why credentials alone are not enough

The original page highlighted the schools attended by tutors. Academic background can be relevant context, but teaching quality is better judged by whether a tutor can explain, diagnose, adapt and give useful feedback.

For parents, the better questions are:

  • What problem are we trying to solve?
  • What evidence shows the problem exists?
  • What will the tutor do differently?
  • How will progress be observed?
  • What happens when the student no longer needs the same support?
