Where does Go-Ahead Singapore Bus Service 36 go? It is an approximately 52.2km circular public bus route from Changi Airport Terminal 2 through Terminal 4, Siglap and Marine Parade, Suntec, Promenade, Esplanade, Dhoby Ghaut and Orchard, then back through Suntec and Marine Parade to Changi Airport Terminals 3, 1 and 2. It provides a direct airport–city connection and offers non-airport outings near Parkway Parade, the civic district and Orchard Road.
Important: the loop order is not symmetrical. From Terminal 2 the bus heads first to Terminal 4, then Marine Parade and the city. On the way back from the city it reaches Terminal 3, then Terminal 1, then Terminal 2. A visitor going to Jewel should use the actual public airport terminal and pedestrian links; Jewel is connected to Terminal 1’s arrival level, not an extra bus stop on the route. The service also has a late 36A short trip that ends at Tomlinson Road rather than returning to the airport.
Quick stop sequence: 95129 Changi Airport Ter 2 → 95209 Ter 4 → 93049 Lagoon View → 93039 Siglap Stn/Laguna Park → 92059 Marine Pde Exit 6 → 02089 Promenade/Pan Pacific → 02061 Esplanade → 08031 Dhoby Ghaut Exit B → 08121 Somerset → 09022 Orchard Exit 13 → 09191 Aft Cuscaden Rd (Tomlinson) → 09047 Orchard/Tang Plaza → 02151 Suntec Convention Centre → 92041 Marine Pde Exit 2 → 95109 Changi Airport Ter 3 → 95029 Ter 1 → 95129 Ter 2. What makes Service 36 genuinely different from other airport buses
Service 36 is operated as an airport-to-city circular route. Unlike buses that serve airport terminals after passing through several housing estates in the northeast, it reaches the Marine Parade/East Coast Parkway corridor, then uses Suntec and Orchard as major central-city links. This can make it useful to travellers staying near East Coast Road, Marine Parade or Orchard when the final walking distance suits them.
The route is not a fixed sightseeing coach. It stops only at official bus stops and does not carry an admission ticket to Jewel, the airport’s paid attractions, a hotel room or an event at Suntec. The bus fare is independent from baggage rules, airline check-in and travel documentation.
Travellers starting from Punggol should not infer a direct service because the airport is in eastern Singapore. Bus 36’s operating start is Changi T2. To reach it from Punggol, use a suitable connecting service, rail or another route that actually serves the relevant terminal. The correct journey starts at the household’s real location, not a broad compass direction.
Which airport terminal does Bus 36 use, and when?
The official operator list begins at 95129 Changi Airport T2, then goes via the airport roads to 95209 Terminal 4 before joining the ECP towards the city. Later, after the Marine Parade/Siglap return, it calls at 95109 Terminal 3, 95029 Terminal 1 and finally 95129 Terminal 2 again.
That order matters for passengers arriving at a specific terminal. A traveller at Terminal 3 who boards a bus on its final approach to T2 should not assume it will immediately proceed to the city. The bus may complete its operating journey at T2 or change its service display; always read the current destination and operator instructions.
Changi Airport’s official transport guide confirms Bus 36 is a public bus serving T1, T2, T3 and T4, while other bus numbers serve different combinations of terminals. If the flight check-in counter is in T4, use the appropriate T4 access or current free airport shuttle, not a mistaken assumption that every airport bus serves that terminal.
Jewel Changi Airport: how to get there from Bus 36
Jewel is a public-facing shopping and leisure destination, but the bus route does not have a separate stop named ‘Jewel’. Changi Airport identifies Jewel as directly connected to Terminal 1’s Arrival Hall. From Terminal 2 or Terminal 3, public link bridges take visitors towards Jewel, with the airport giving approximately 5–10 minutes of walking from T2/T3 under normal conditions.
Passengers who are in transit airside must understand that Jewel is in the public area; entering it may require clearing Singapore immigration. Travellers should consult airline and immigration instructions, not treat the bus or mall as a way to bypass border controls.
A family outing could choose the public viewing areas, food or a booked attraction inside Jewel. However, the Rain Vortex’s operating times, ticketed attractions and individual shop hours are separate from Bus 36. A public bus ride to the airport does not automatically admit a child to a paid canopy activity.
After the visit, identify the actual terminal bus basement and direction before boarding home. Changi Airport has different passenger halls and a free inter-terminal shuttle. A family with substantial luggage or a stroller should use official lift and shuttle directions, not an unverified shortcut.
The ECP express section and the surprising East Coast Park stop
Between Terminal 4 and Marine Parade, the route uses an expressway sector, but the published stop list includes 94099 Aft E.C. Sea Sports Club. This is an unusual roadside reference within the East Coast Parkway corridor. It does not mean the bus can stop at any park carpark, beach or rest point a map happens to show.
East Coast Park stretches over 13 kilometres, with different picnic grounds, coast paths and activity zones. NParks’ late-2026 notices include path improvements and a temporary dog-run closure. A family planning a picnic or coastal walk should first select the actual park section and entrance, then choose the appropriate legal pedestrian connection.
Coastal weather and water safety are separate matters. A bus may run while a path is under improvement or the sea is unsuitable for swimming. Follow park warnings and do not cross highway barriers to reach a beach. A nature outing is only sensible when the public path from the actual bus shelter is legal and comfortable.
Marine Parade, Siglap and Tanjong Katong: different station areas
After the ECP, Service 36 follows Marine Parade Road, calling at 93039 Siglap Stn/Laguna Park, 92079 Marine Terrace Exit 1 and 92059 Marine Parade Exit 6. It also serves Parkway Parade at 92049. These stations and the shopping centre are related by district but are not interchangeable entrances.
For a short local outing, choose one suitable shop, meal or public appointment. Some households may value a direct ride to a residential stop; someone already inside the Thomson–East Coast Line may find a train more convenient. Compare the real last walk and transfer before deciding.
The citybound 36 later stops at 82059 Bef Tg Katong Stn Exit 3 then joins an expressway to Suntec. This is not the same as the full heritage route along East Coast Road and Joo Chiat Road. If the purpose is a specific Katong conserved shophouse, select that building address and another suitable approach rather than assume all Katong sites are beside the Tanjong Katong station.
Suntec and Promenade: the civic-side city corridor
The citybound bus uses 02149 Suntec Twr Three, 02159 Opp Suntec Convention Ctr and 02089 Promenade Stn/Pan Pacific. The area includes public retail, convention events and business offices. A booked exhibition may require a particular hall and visitor entrance; a public bus stop is only the transport approach.
An easy family afternoon can involve one public meal or a short civic architecture observation rather than a mandatory ticketed convention. If attending a major event, check the ticket, event entry and pedestrian crowd restrictions. Venue security can create a different walking route from the ordinary shortest line on a map.
On the airport-bound return, the route uses 02151 Suntec Convention Ctr and 02161 Aft Promenade Exit C. The return stop codes are different from the citybound ones. A traveller who shops for several hours should save the actual airport-bound shelter before leaving the main venue.
Esplanade, City Hall, Dhoby Ghaut and Somerset
The route continues through 02061 The Esplanade, 04111 Capitol Bldg, 08031 Dhoby Ghaut Exit B and 08121 Somerset Stn. These give public transport access to arts, civic heritage and shopping areas. Each institution has its own entrance and any programme’s booking conditions.
At Esplanade, a public view of the architecture or waterfront can be sufficient for a short outing; a concert or performance may require admission. At Dhoby Ghaut, the station links three MRT lines, so a traveller whose purpose is a train transfer may find a convenient alternative without riding the entire circular bus.
Return-side codes through Bras Basah and Dhoby Ghaut also differ. A person reaching the station from a city walk should choose the airport-bound stop from the operator’s ordered route, not assume the nearest citybound bus pole works both ways.
Orchard and Tomlinson Road: where the normal bus turns and 36A ends
The normal route serves 09022 Orchard Exit 13, then 09191 Aft Cuscaden Rd on Tomlinson Road and turns back via Tanglin and Orchard Road, including 09047 Orchard Stn/Tang Plaza. It is a loop, not an airport-origin service terminating permanently at Orchard.
Late 36A trips are different. Go-Ahead’s notice says services departing T2 after approximately 11.02pm weekdays, 11.03pm Saturdays and 11.04pm Sundays/PH operate as 36A from T2 only as far as the Tomlinson stop. A person travelling from Orchard back to Changi late at night should not treat an inbound 36A as a through airport-bound bus.
The main operator page also refers to 36B, a local short journey from Lagoon View to Bef Seaside Residences, and the 36T suffix, which identifies buses terminating at Changi Airport T2. It is essential to read the suffix and the destination even when the bus’s base number seems right.
Airport baggage, accessibility and the luggage-rack trial
The Land Transport Authority trialled luggage racks on selected Service 36 buses in 2025 and subsequently considered expanded provision. That does not prove every Bus 36 arriving in November 2026 has luggage racks. Pack so that belongings can be managed safely and do not obstruct aisles, exits or wheelchair spaces.
Flight travellers should choose a route that suits their terminal, check-in time, luggage and ability to walk from the bus basement to the airline’s actual counter. The bus’s 6am first departure at T2 does not tell an overseas visitor when the last departure from an intermediate Suntec or Marine Parade stop occurs.
Families using wheelchairs or prams should follow Changi Airport’s official accessible terminal pathways and correct boarding locations. A direct bus is helpful only when the combined kerbs, lifts, terminal links and walking distances suit the traveller.
A late flight or last-minute event needs a different plan
Go-Ahead’s published origin timetable lists the earliest T2 service at 6am and late departures close to midnight, but some of those late departures are shortened 36A trips. Terminal origin times should not be used as a guarantee of airport-bound service from Orchard or Suntec after a late event.
If an international flight is time-sensitive, compare the bus with MRT, authorised airport shuttle, taxi or other practical alternatives. The correct choice is the one that allows enough time for airline check-in and border processes, not necessarily the route with the most interesting sightseeing stops.
If a city event finishes after the regular airport-returning journey is no longer suitable, choose a verified connection rather than waiting at a shelter for a bus that is operating as a short trip. A clear return plan is part of a successful outing.
Three realistic outings
Jewel and airport public spaces
Use the appropriate 36 airport terminal stop, follow current airport signs to T1 Arrival Hall/Jewel or a bridge from T2/T3, and check any ticketed attraction or airline requirement separately. Confirm the correct airport bus basement for departure.
Marine Parade or Parkway Parade meal
Use the citybound 36 stop 92049 Marine Pde Stn/Parkway Pde for a real open shop or restaurant. For the return, locate the airport-bound 92041/92051 side; do not treat the coastal park’s beach entrances as part of the mall.
Suntec or Orchard city outing
Choose an actual public event or shop and its entrance. Use citybound 02159/02089 or Orchard 09022, then the correctly oriented airport-bound stop. Avoid 36A if expecting a full return to Changi.
