Where does SBS Transit Bus Service 14 go, and which interesting places can you visit? It travels between Bedok Interchange and Clementi Interchange via Heartbeat@Bedok, Tanah Merah MRT, Bayshore, Siglap and Katong, Mountbatten, the National Stadium and Suntec, Orchard, River Valley, Bukit Merah, Science Park, Buona Vista and Dover. The strongest simple outings are a booked activity at Heartbeat@Bedok, a heritage-food visit in Katong, a confirmed National Stadium event, a public city visit around Suntec, or shopping around Buona Vista.
Do not confuse Bus 14 with a bus running through East Coast Park’s beach road. It serves Bayshore and East Coast Road inland from the seaside, while NParks’ East Coast Park has separate coastal entrances, crossings and current footpath improvement works. Its 14A variant is also not the full service: SBS Transit lists 14A from Bedok to Somerset Youth Park on Sundays/public holidays, around 8.03am–2.44pm from its origin, stopping well before the Science Park/Buona Vista/Clementi portion.
Quick route: 84009 Bedok Int → 84659 Bef Heartbeat@Bedok → 85091 Tanah Merah Exit 2 → 94039 Bef Bayshore Stn Exit 3 → 92119 Roxy Sq → 80271 Opp Mountbatten Stn → 80219 Natl Stadium → 80159 Suntec City → 08031 Dhoby Ghaut Exit B → 09022 Orchard Exit 13 → 10091 Bt Merah Town Ctr → 18131 Science Pk → 11361 Buona Vista Exit C → 19031 Dover Exit A → 17009 Clementi Int. The outward full route is approximately 34.3km. Read the exact direction before choosing a stop.

Where to get off: selected official stops
The operator’s five-digit bus stop code is a safe starting point, not a guarantee of venue admission, active event or direct access to the beach. Check the pedestrian entrance and current return route independently.

Heartbeat@Bedok and Tanah Merah: choose one practical eastern purpose
From Bedok Int, the bus serves 84659 Bef Heartbeat@Bedok before the residential Bedok North streets and Tanah Merah MRT. Heartbeat@Bedok is an integrated public facility with a library, sport amenities and community functions. A stop named for it does not guarantee that a particular swimming lane, court or event is available on arrival.
ActiveSG publishes different operating conditions for its sport spaces. The swimming complex, for example, has a weekly maintenance pattern and bad-weather provisions. If a family plans to swim, it should confirm the actual pool schedule rather than use the library’s general opening hours as a proxy.
Tanah Merah station at 85091 offers a useful rail transfer and serves an area distinct from Bedok town centre. A passenger beginning inside an MRT station may find rail quicker for some destinations; a resident beside a Bedok Road stop may value the bus’s directness. Compare the full door-to-door journey.
An east-side outing need not become a long trip across Singapore. A family can visit the library or complete an errand and then return. The fact that Service 14 continues to Clementi is not a reason to spend hours on the bus after the original purpose is finished.
Bayshore is a station corridor, not the entrance to every East Coast Park feature
The bus travels along Upper East Coast Road and stops at 94039 Bef Bayshore Stn Exit 3. The station belongs to the Thomson–East Coast Line and is a transport option for nearby households and public destinations. But a station carrying the name Bayshore is not a public bus stop on the coastal park service road itself.
NParks lists East Coast Park as a large public coast of roughly 180 hectares, stretching over 13km and generally open 24 hours. That scale matters: there are multiple carparks, picnic areas, coastal paths and activity zones. A family must choose a particular destination inside the park and check the public walking route from an actual bus or rail stop.
Current November 2026 NParks notices include a closure of a footpath section in Area D from 5 October to 30 November, works near Carpark C4 through 21 November and the temporary closure of a dog run in Area C1 through 6 November. Those are specific path/access changes, not a general closure of the whole park. A route guide should not promise a continuous coastal walk through a section under improvement.
The weather and sea are also separate from the bus’s availability. NParks has warned about jellyfish in the southern coasts. A coastal view or public park entrance is not a guarantee that entering the water is safe. Use on-site advice and do not choose a swimming activity solely because an inland bus serves the area.
Katong and Siglap: an authentic heritage street outing
After Bayshore, Bus 14 passes Siglap South and then East Coast Road, calling at 92119 Roxy Sq and 92109 Opp Katong Shop Ctr. This is a useful approach to Katong’s public shops, food and conservation streets. It differs from Bus 7’s Joo Chiat Complex stop farther north near Geylang Serai.
A short walk through public Katong streets can include carefully observing conserved shophouse architecture. A child can compare building details and use a reliable heritage resource to understand how Katong developed; the appearance of a building alone does not prove its age or former use.
Independent restaurants and retail outlets have their own hours and rest days. A tour that depends on a particular food stall or shop should verify that it is open, rather than copying a generic list of famous eateries. Some places require reservations or have dietary limitations that should be discussed before arriving with children.
Use designated crossings and public pavements. Shops and places of worship are working environments, not unlimited photography sets. If a family wants to visit more than one neighbourhood, it is reasonable to break the day into separate outings so the public heritage walk is not rushed.
Mountbatten, National Stadium and Suntec: three different destinations
Before the city centre, the bus serves 80271 Opp Mountbatten Stn, then joins the Nicoll Highway corridor and calls at 80219 Natl Stadium and 80159 Suntec City. Mountbatten MRT, the stadium complex and Suntec are distinct transport and activity destinations rather than one common entrance.
At the National Stadium, a ticketed concert or sporting event has its own check-in gate, bag rules and public-access plan. The bus stop name does not make every entrance, seating level or event activity available. Major crowds can alter pedestrian movement, so use official event wayfinding and allow extra time.
On an ordinary day, a public street or civic architecture walk around Suntec can be enjoyable without buying a concert ticket. A parent and child can look at how large public facilities integrate with train lines, sheltered walkways and bus stops. Keep the activity to public paths and obey any temporary event barriers.
Bus 14 does not continue to Changi Airport after the stadium, nor does it enter the stadium compound. It runs through the civic/retail corridor and onwards to Orchard. Decide on the actual event or public place before choosing the bus.
Dhoby Ghaut, Somerset and Orchard: the importance of a precise shopping entrance
The outward sequence continues from Suntec via Stamford Road and Penang Road to 08031 Dhoby Ghaut Stn Exit B, 08121 Somerset Stn and 09022 Orchard Stn Exit 13. These stations serve different sections of a long shopping corridor with several rail lines and separate pedestrian entrances.
A family visit might involve one bookshop, meal or scheduled performance rather than covering all the malls. Retail units can relocate, and not every restaurant follows the same hours as the building. Check the exact unit and any booking requirement before setting out.
If the destination is the National Library or Bras Basah arts district, the bus passes a nearby civic corridor but its exact stop may differ from a route travelling along Victoria Street. Use the chosen institution’s address and public gate, not the name of the general district.
On return from Clementi, the 14 may use different city streets and stop codes. Compare a train option for a late shopping trip: a service running through Orchard is not automatically the fastest or easiest route home for every east-side passenger.
River Valley and Bukit Merah: residential corridors and food or retail options
After Orchard the bus turns through Paterson Road and Irwell Bank Road towards River Valley Road, Delta Road and Lower Delta Road. It serves stops such as 13059 Valley Pt before reaching 10091 Bt Merah Town Ctr. These support ordinary homes, shops, appointments and transfers.
Not every district name is an invitation to walk into a condominium or school compound. If visiting a resident or attending an approved programme, confirm the building entrance and access instructions. For a meal, choose a specific open public restaurant or food centre and check its actual location.
Bukit Merah’s town centre has HDB shops and public food options, but a food centre can be closed for cleaning while the surrounding buses run normally. NEA’s current centre notices are more reliable than assuming a favourite stall operates on every date.
A simple urban planning exercise can compare the low- and high-rise streets as the bus travels. Children can notice where shops serve housing estates and how transport connects those places. This creates learning value without requiring a long itinerary of paid attractions.
Queensway Shopping Centre: a retail stop, not the same as Queenstown MRT
The route goes along Alexandra Road and calls at 11519 Opp Queensway Shop Ctr. Queensway Shopping Centre is associated with sports retail and other independent shops, but exact stock, services and opening hours vary. The bus gives a public road reference, not an assurance that one brand is currently present.
A family interested in buying sport equipment can choose a small task: compare options, check the correct size and price and decide whether a purchase is necessary. The trip need not include the entire western route. If the needed shop is closed, an alternative outlet or returning home may be the sensible choice.
Do not confuse Queensway Shopping Centre with Queenstown MRT or Queenstown Public Library. Those have different addresses and access routes. A location containing ‘Queen’ in its name does not establish a stop beside an MRT station with a similar name.
Road crossings along Alexandra Road can be wide. A person travelling with children, a stroller or mobility aid should choose an appropriate legal crossing, rather than following a straight map line between the bus shelter and the shopping building.
Science Park and the business corridor: transport for work, not unrestricted tours
After Queensway, Bus 14 uses a longer AYE and Science Park segment before approaching Buona Vista. Stops include 18131 Science Pk and 18101 5 Sci Pk Dr. Those are legitimate public transport references for employment and registered business appointments.
Singapore Science Park contains working businesses and research facilities, which may have private entrances and security. A stop that names a business park does not give the public access to labs, offices or company facilities. For a meeting, use the actual building address and host’s visitor instructions.
Some travellers may want to attend an educational or career event in the precinct. Those events should be confirmed with the organiser before using the bus; an ordinary company logo outside a building is not evidence of a public open house.
For a journey with limited mobility or a timed appointment, confirm the path from the bus stop to the authorised entrance. A long campus-like business district may be more spread out than it appears on a map, and crossing a business driveway is not necessarily the safest option.
Buona Vista, The Star Vista and Dover: three different stopping points
Closer to Clementi, Service 14 calls at 11361 Buona Vista Stn Exit C, 11191 The Star Vista and 19031 Dover Stn Exit A. Buona Vista is an interchange between the East–West and Circle Lines. Dover lies one East–West Line station farther west, while the Star Vista is a retail development at the Buona Vista precinct.
These stops can serve a simple lunch, shopping errand or rail transfer. Choose a real retail unit and opening hours. Do not assume every mall at Buona Vista, Rochester or Dover is immediately beside each stop with a familiar station name.
At Dover, nearby educational institutions and workplaces have their own visitor gates and appointment rules. A bus beside a polytechnic or school is not a walk-in classroom tour. Check the precise venue before planning a course briefing or an education visit.
The service then ends at Clementi Interchange. A direct bus from eastern Singapore can be comfortable for some intermediate road locations but slow for other station-to-station journeys. Compare the MRT for the return and avoid treating the 34.3km route as a universal fast cross-island option.
14A: the Sunday and public-holiday short trip, not a full westbound bus
SBS Transit lists 14A from Bedok Int to Somerset Youth Park on Grange Road. Its page currently shows Sunday/public-holiday operation from 8.03am to 2.44pm at the Bedok origin. That is different from the full Service 14, which continues through Orchard and along River Valley, Bukit Merah, Science Park and Buona Vista to Clementi.
If a traveller wants to reach Clementi from Bedok, 14A is not suitable without a deliberate transfer. The number resembles 14 but the endpoint is different. Read the full display and the last stop of the specific bus before boarding, especially during a busy Sunday outing.
A family going only to Orchard might find a shortened trip appropriate during its actual operating window. But that should not be promised for weekday evenings or later on Sundays without live current verification. When timing matters, the full 14 or a separate suitable mode may be better.
This is an example of why bus suffixes are not decorative. The operator’s separate timetable and stopping list describe a different service that shares part of the route. Copying the full route’s attractions onto the shortened service would mislead readers.
Plan the outing for the real destination, not the length of the route
Service 14 has several excellent options—Katong heritage, a booked sports event, a Suntec convention, a shopping errand, or a legitimate business visit—but combining them all is rarely necessary. Start by choosing one main activity, then identify the closest valid five-digit stop on the current operator list.
Write down the actual venue entrance and return stop as well. A park, school or mall may have several gates, and the safest crossing for a stroller or wheelchair can be different from the shortest straight-line route. An accessible bus by itself does not prove every venue approach is step-free.
Use SimplyGo fare guidance for the actual travelled distance and concession eligibility. Headways and terminal last departures are not stop-specific guarantees. Traffic through Katong, Orchard and the business district changes, so a timed performance or appointment deserves a margin.
A successful Bus Guide prevents wasted trips and incorrect assumptions. If the proposed activity is unavailable because of cleaning, construction or sold-out admission, choose an appropriate alternative or a shorter day instead of improvising several new destinations across town.
Three manageable outing plans
Katong heritage and a meal
Ride full 14 from Bedok to 92119 Roxy Sq or 92109 Opp Katong Shop Ctr. Use a selected public heritage street, visit one currently open food outlet, and confirm the return direction. The bus travels on East Coast Road, not the beach park service road.
National Stadium or Suntec event
Choose a real public or ticketed event, check the gate and time, then alight at 80219 Natl Stadium or 80159 Suntec City as appropriate. Allow room for crowd control and use a suitable public crossing or MRT return.
Buona Vista rail and retail outing
Stay on the full 14 to 11361 Buona Vista Exit C or 11191 The Star Vista for the chosen destination. Do not board Sunday short-trip 14A expecting it to continue there; it ends near Somerset.
