Preschool excursions and celebrations in Punggol are not automatically cancelled during an infectious-disease outbreak. ECDA says centres can continue activities and programmes while taking precautions and remaining alert to children’s and staff’s well-being.
ECDA also says a centre can consider alternative activities where necessary and should inform parents about changes. Check the current notice for your child’s centre rather than assuming the original plan still applies.
Permission for a programme to continue is separate from whether an individual child is well enough to join. Follow the applicable health advice and ask the centre to clarify any child-specific concern.
CHAPTER 1 OF 3
Read the outbreak-specific answer
The ECDA events-during-outbreak FAQ describes continuation, precautions and alternatives. It is general guidance, not a confirmation that a particular trip is going ahead.
Ask whether your centre’s event is confirmed, modified, postponed or replaced. Keep the latest dated reply with the original notice so the change is clear.
CHAPTER 2 OF 3
Ask what changes affect your child
Useful questions include whether the location, timing, activity or collection arrangement has changed. If your child has a relevant health need, raise it directly with the centre.
These are practical planning questions rather than a fixed national outbreak checklist. Ask for the details needed for your family’s decision.
CHAPTER 3 OF 3
Clarify participation separately
ECDA’s excursion guidance says field-trip participation is optional and staff should supervise children who opt out. Ask how the centre will organise that arrangement.
This does not mean every celebration is governed by an identical opt-out process. Confirm the actual activity and follow the current health and attendance instructions.
Information checked on 17 October 2026. Follow current official guidance and obtain professional advice appropriate to your child’s circumstances.
