Planning a wheelchair train journey from Punggol? Use the lift and wide fare-gate routes, and check the destination and transfer stations as well as the starting station. SBS Transit describes lift access from street to platform and barrier-free features in its stations.
On the platform, look for the blue wheelchair symbols identifying accessible carriage entrances. Ask station staff for assistance if the platform gap, boarding position or route is unfamiliar; do not rush to board simply because the train is already there.
For a Punggol MRT or LRT trip, allow time for lifts and any change of level. A station being accessible does not tell you that the quickest pedestrian entrance, every lift at that moment or your onward destination has the same access conditions.

Plan each station in the journey
Identify the starting entrance, transfer route and destination exit that suit your wheelchair. Consider the return journey too.
If an entrance or lift is unavailable, ask staff for the current accessible alternative. Do not follow a stairs-only shortcut from a generic walking map.
Ask staff about unfamiliar boarding
Use the Passenger Service Centre to explain the help you need before going to the platform. Let staff advise on the suitable boarding location and available assistance.
A companion should ask before helping to move or reposition the wheelchair. The wheelchair user’s preferences remain central to the journey.
Keep the platform approach clear
Follow the marked accessible carriage position and current staff directions. Wait safely behind the platform boundary while organising bags and payment.
Do not try to force a boarding manoeuvre in a rush or rely on strangers lifting a chair across a gap. Ask staff to guide the appropriate process.
Check the onward route
After leaving the train, use the accessible exit that leads to your destination rather than simply the nearest gate.
Keep contact details for the destination if a delay or route change occurs. Station assistance helps with the transport journey; access inside a private building needs its own check.
