Received a preschool termination notice in Punggol? ECDA says a preschool may ask parents to find an alternative centre if it cannot meet the child’s needs.
ECDA advises checking whether the termination process aligns with the clauses in the Parents’ Handbook or enrolment forms supplied when your child enrolled. Ask management to explain the reason, dates and applicable terms.
ECDA’s answer says it cannot intervene in private contractual agreements. Keep a contractual question separate from requests for help with your child’s needs or transition, and do not infer one universal notice period from another family’s experience.
In this guide
CHAPTER 1 OF 4
Read the notice and documents together
Use the ECDA termination-notice guidance as the starting point.
Locate the relevant handbook or enrolment clause and compare the stated process with the notice. Ask about anything you cannot reconcile.
CHAPTER 2 OF 4
Discuss the child’s needs
Ask the centre to explain the concern and what has already been discussed or tried. Keep your own observations and the centre’s account distinct.
A useful question is: “What needs is the centre unable to meet, and what information should we understand when planning the next step?”
CHAPTER 3 OF 4
Clarify the transition
Confirm the stated last day and what arrangements apply until then. Ask about records or information that may help the next centre understand your child.
If you need further help with placement or support, ask what appropriate guidance is available. Do not assume a new place is secured before receiving confirmation.
CHAPTER 4 OF 4
Check finances separately
Ask for the final bill and any proposed refund calculation. Keep those figures alongside the relevant contractual terms.
This guide does not determine whether an individual notice is legally valid. Seek appropriate advice if a contractual question remains unresolved.
