Renewing road tax for a vehicle kept in Punggol? Use LTA’s OneMotoring Road Tax page to check the expiry date, amount payable and prerequisites before making payment. Start with your vehicle’s record rather than estimating the renewal date from an old receipt.
LTA’s requirements include insurance covering the renewal period, a passed vehicle inspection when due, and clearance of relevant outstanding fines. Meet the prerequisites at least one working day before renewal; paying an insurer or completing an inspection is a separate step from renewing road tax.
For a Punggol household managing several vehicle bills, keep road tax, motor insurance, inspection and season parking as separate calendar entries. A paid parking subscription does not confirm road-tax validity. After renewal, save the confirmation and check that the vehicle record shows the intended validity period.

Check the expiry and amount first
Use the enquiry links on LTA’s official page below. Confirm the vehicle number carefully before checking the amount or beginning payment.
Keep a note of the expiry date and the result of the prerequisite enquiry. If a figure differs from your expectation, resolve the difference through LTA’s official guidance rather than paying an unexplained link sent by a stranger.
Leave time for prerequisite updates
Check insurance dates against the whole proposed road-tax period. If the enquiry identifies a missing prerequisite, complete that requirement and follow LTA’s update instructions.
Avoid arranging everything on the last evening before expiry. A family schedule that includes an inspection visit, insurer follow-up or account enquiry needs room for more than the payment itself.
Choose a renewal channel deliberately
LTA lists online renewal, AXS, GIRO and authorised collection centres. Vehicle schemes can have additional requirements; check the rules for the scheme recorded against your vehicle.
If using GIRO, check the actual payment schedule and successful renewal instead of assuming a bank arrangement completes every prerequisite automatically. For another channel, retain its payment acknowledgement.
Verify completion and plan the next cycle
Save the receipt with the insurance and inspection records. Record the new expiry after the transaction has succeeded, rather than counting forward from the day you attempted payment.
If road tax has already expired, use LTA’s current instructions promptly. Do not assume that leaving the vehicle parked removes the issue; LTA’s guidance addresses keeping as well as using a vehicle with expired road tax.
