To stop an existing PSEA standing order, use the termination process in MOE’s Student Finance System and follow the institution’s instructions. Punggol students should check which institution and account the authorisation covers before submitting a change.
Stopping a standing order changes payment authorisation; it does not cancel the course or erase an outstanding fee. Arrange another accepted payment method with the institution if a bill is still due.
SIT’s published PSEA guidance states that termination through SFS can be submitted by the account holder aged 21 or above, or by the parent if the account holder is below 21. Check the current process for your situation and retain the submission acknowledgement.

CHAPTER 1 OF 5
Identify the standing order to change
Review the authorisation in SFS. Check the student, institution and relevant usage details before taking action, especially where a family has more than one account holder.
Write down why you are changing it: a different payment arrangement, course completion or a question about future deductions. This helps the finance office explain what still needs attention.
CHAPTER 2 OF 5
Use the official termination process
The SIT PSEA page describes signing in to SFS, completing the required details and submitting the request. It also describes an acknowledgement email after successful submission.
Follow the current portal prompts and review the resulting status. Do not assume that closing the page or discussing the request with a staff member completes termination.
CHAPTER 3 OF 5
Ask about deductions already in progress
Before a fee collection date, ask the finance office whether a claim has already been submitted and what effect your change will have on it. A payment in progress and a future payment can require different handling.
Confirm the effective date and any institution billing cut-off. Do not promise yourself an automatic refund simply because a standing order has been stopped.
CHAPTER 4 OF 5
Arrange payment for the remaining bill
Ask which charges remain outstanding and how to settle them. Keep the invoice deadline visible while the account change is being processed.
If you are also changing a loan or other financial arrangement, tell the finance office. Reviewing the whole bill can prevent one payment route from being stopped before the replacement is ready.
CHAPTER 5 OF 5
Keep the final records together
Retain the termination acknowledgement, the updated account status and any institution response about pending fees. Check the next bill and relevant PSEA transaction record.
If a later deduction is unexpected, use these dated records when asking for an explanation. If you need to authorise PSEA again in future, use a fresh application rather than assuming the terminated arrangement will restart.
