Coney Island Park has two entrances: the West entrance near Punggol Point Walk and Punggol Promenade, and the East entrance near Lorong Halus Wetland. For a Coney Island visit from Punggol, choose the gate that fits both your arrival and your journey home.
If you park near Punggol Settlement, an out-and-back walk from the West entrance is a straightforward planning option. NParks states that there are no carparks on the island and identifies Punggol Settlement as the nearest carpark. Walking through to the other gate still leaves you needing to return to your car.
For a family Coney Island walk, decide between returning through your entry gate and finishing at the opposite entrance before setting off. The through-walk can suit a planned onward journey; the return walk can suit a parked car, a fixed pickup point or children who may need to turn back early.

Two entrances, two different endings
Write down your intended starting gate and finishing gate. A map pin labelled only “Coney Island” is not enough for a meeting between people approaching from different directions. Send the entrance name and a confirmed landmark together.
For an out-and-back walk, you control how far to continue before retracing the route. For a through-walk, the far gate becomes part of your commitment. Neither option requires you to visit every beach or take every side trail.

Ask a simple question: where must everyone be when the walk ends? A car, bicycle return point, bus stop or booked pickup can determine your best exit more than a photograph you hope to take.
If two adults are meeting separately, agree whether they are collecting the group at the starting gate or the finishing gate. Avoid an arrangement where each person assumes the other will cross the island. Confirm the pedestrian meeting point separately from where a vehicle may stop.

Using rail or bus to reach the park
Check a current journey planner for your selected entrance and inspect the last walking leg. Reaching a nearby rail station does not mean reaching the park gate. Include the approach walk when judging whether the journey suits your group.
Do not use an old bus number from a historical park brochure without checking its current route. Punggol transport arrangements have changed over time. Confirm the service direction, alighting stop and pedestrian route before leaving home.

Choose a route your group can comfortably finish
For a first visit with children, make the turnaround decision early, while the group still has energy. A short walk with time to observe plants can be more enjoyable than a full crossing that ends with a tired return journey.
For a pram or mobility aid, check the current park accessibility details and the route you intend to use. Accessible entrances do not establish that every trail or beach approach is suitable. Ask NParks about a specific route if its terrain is important to your visit.

If you change the plan halfway
Tell the person collecting you as soon as the exit changes. Send the full gate name, not just “the other side”. Check the onward journey again; do not assume the transport options at one entrance match those at the other.
If the group is tiring or the weather deteriorates, shorten the visit. Keep the park’s closing time in mind and use designated routes. A map is useful for re-planning, but a visible barrier or closure notice takes priority over a saved route.

Confirm entry gate, exit gate, return transport, current park notices and a suitable time to leave. Save the official park page so you can find its map when needed.
