Primary 3–4 Creative Writing Parkway Parade | Sentence → Paragraph: The Upper-Primary Bridge

A student in a blue pinafore sits at a classroom table and writes in an open book.

The P3→P4 writing jump is not simply “write longer”. The student has to move from producing correct sentences to organising several sentences around one paragraph job.

This legacy Parkway Parade P3/P4 creative-writing page now owns one job: Sentence → Paragraph bridge. It does not claim a current eduKate branch in Parkway Parade; families should verify actual teaching location, timing and availability directly.

Primary 3: Build the Sentence With a Job

  • state the action clearly;
  • add one relevant detail;
  • control tense and reference;
  • use vocabulary that fits the scene;
  • reread for complete meaning.

Primary 4: Make Sentences Work Together

A paragraph should perform one function: establish, develop, complicate, explain, show consequence or resolve.

SentenceParagraph job
Topic/entry sentenceEstablish what this paragraph is about
DevelopmentAdd action, reason, evidence or detail
Change/consequenceMove the story or idea forward
Exit sentenceCreate the need for the next paragraph

Do Not Pad the Paragraph

More sentences are useful only if they add new work. Repeating the same emotion three ways can make the paragraph longer without making it stronger.

Use Partial Writing

The tutor can ask for two connected paragraphs instead of a full composition every lesson. This gives higher-resolution feedback on cohesion and paragraph jobs.

Three Students Can Compare Architecture

One prompt can produce three different paragraph plans. Students compare function and coherence without copying plot or phrases, then draft independently.

For Parkway Parade Families

Confirm current eduKate location and route directly. The P3→P4 bridge is successful when correct sentences begin behaving as coherent paragraphs.
