English Tuition for The Meadows Punggol | Build Paragraph Cohesion So Each Sentence Pulls the Next

A paragraph can contain individually correct sentences and still feel disconnected. Cohesion comes from shared focus, clear reference and relationships that help one sentence create the need for the next.

This legacy The Meadows Punggol English page now owns one job: paragraph cohesion. It does not imply a separate eduKate branch at The Meadows; families should confirm current teaching location, timing and availability directly.

Give the Paragraph One Job

Before writing, the student should be able to say what the paragraph is doing: establish the problem, develop a turning point, explain a reason, provide evidence or show a consequence.

Make Reference Clear

  • pronouns should point to an unambiguous noun;
  • repeated ideas can be referred to without restarting;
  • time shifts should be signalled when necessary;
  • cause, contrast and consequence should be readable from the sentence relationship.

Use Connectors Only When They Carry a Real Relationship

However, therefore, meanwhile and because are useful when they describe the logic. Adding them mechanically cannot repair two sentences that do not belong together.

Read the Paragraph Aloud

Oral rereading can reveal where the idea seems to reset, where a pronoun becomes ambiguous or where one sentence has no clear relationship to the next.

Three Students Can Compare Paragraph Architecture

Students can underline the job of each sentence in three different paragraphs. The tutor then asks which sentence develops the paragraph and which merely repeats it. Each learner rewrites their own paragraph independently.

For The Meadows Families

Verify current eduKate class logistics directly. A useful English programme should help the learner move from correct sentences to paragraphs that behave as one coherent unit.
