Self confidence in a student is an important skill to be mastered to attain A*/A1 score in PSLE, GCE, IGCSE Examinations. We teach PSLE, GCE, IGCSE English Math and Science and believe A*/A1 students requires self confidence. Why? Here’s Dr Ivan Joseph from TED to explain.
Dr Ivan talks about self confidence being the most important skill to have in sports, the ability to know that we can do it, and actually going out there and do it. That is his ingredient for building a championship team and on the same vein, it is also the same ingredient to get A* and A1 in an exam.
I have been asked by parents how my students gets A1 in double Maths (I am the anchor tutor at edukate for GCE O levels Add Maths, E Maths) every year and most of the time, I answer them, ” Because they know they can.” And how do they know? Because I tell them so. Because every lesson that they attend, I teach them the best ways to understand, to do, and to strategise for their exams. Then we keep attempting exam papers, and we do that to the point where they know they surpass the levels required of them. That builds core confidence. That builds their trust in themselves. On top of that, I tell them that they are the best out there. And they know that they are.
This might make them sound smug, but trust me, my students are humble and understands that their brain is the most important thing that they have, our holistic programmes during the holidays teaches them humility.
But, organising their minds, intelligent thinking and mine the confidence so that they know that they are capable, empowered individuals is a very important sauce in making them stand out in the mass of students. That makes them want to learn more, do more, and be more. And all this comes from self confidence.
